This is an impressive structure and far different than what I had pictured personally, but I'm somewhat at a loss for its role in the novel. I remember Munna fearing to enter it and staring up at it constantly. He mentions that they didn't look for him there but I don't get the idea that he ever came back to the Fortress. What role did it play? Maybe we can discuss it Wednesday.
I agree with you Dylan, this is much different than the image I had created in my mind. However, part of the allure of literature is that the images you create are exactly that: yours. In this picture it's difficult to tell if that is water in the foreground or just a blurred area of the photograph. Either way, I think this is interesting to see, but in no way should it encroach upon the image that Adiga has evoked with his words.
